State Director of Early Intervention
My name is Jillian Franklin and I am the State Director of Early Intervention. I grew up in Ithaca New York and developed a love for working with children with special needs at an early age after being fortunate to be surrounded by peers of all abilities in my elementary school. I attended Northeastern University in Boston Massachusetts where I majored in Human Services, with concentrations in Family and Child Studies and Deaf Studies, and received a minor in Sociology. During my time in Boston I worked as a daycare teacher with children from birth to 5 years old, for the Boston Ballet community outreach program, and volunteered at an elementary school for children who were on the autism spectrum. After graduating from college, I decided I was ready to move to warmer weather which lead me to Charleston. Before joining the Bright Start team, I worked for the Disabilities Board of Charleston County as a Case Manager and as an Early Interventionist. In my spare time I love to travel, read, spend time around the water, and explore the many restaurants in the Charleston area.
