Early Interventionist - Midlands Office
Going into my junior year at Columbia College, I was meeting with my advisor to discuss what I wanted to do for my senior internship. I had no idea where I wanted to go with my either of my degrees (Child Life and Child and Family Services), I just knew that I wanted to work with children and families experiencing any type crisis. I had done multiple internships in different children’s hospitals spanning up and down east coast. While I learned so much, I just never found the right career for me. I wasn’t looking forward to sitting in another advisement meeting, having no interest in any of my options. As soon as I walked in the room, my advisor rushed me in and told me to sit down right away, she had found the perfect internship and career path for me. She explained what early intervention was and the incredible population that this field services. The more she talked, the more I got excited. Following that meeting, I applied and got accepted as the first Bright Start intern ever! I was so excited to learn from some of the best interventionist’s in the midlands. I fell in love with early intervention, children with disabilities and the company Bright Start! I fell so much in love that I came back for another semester for more internship experience, I couldn’t get enough! Before I could even officially receive me diplomas, I applied for an open interventionist position with Bright Start. I’m so blessed to work for such great company and interact with such amazing families. I’ve learned more about myself than I could have ever imagined in my journey to become an early interventionist and I’m so excited to continue to learn and grow with Bright Start.
