I started Ohio State University knowing I wanted to major in Child Development and work with children in any capacity. I majored in child and family development and interned in a local preschool and kindergarten as a senior. Immediately after graduating, I worked as a live in nanny in Columbus. Following that, I worked as a Child Life Specialist at Columbus Children’s Hospital. I worked on an infant/toddler unit and the burn unit. Having worked with children with special needs on those units, I became an Early Interventionist for the hospital, working with all ages. In addition to full time work, I completed my Master’s Degree in Child and Family Development and moved to South Carolina in 1994. I worked for the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs as the Early Intervention Program Director until starting Bright Start in March of 1999.
