Kick It! Karate for Individuals with Special Needs
Kick It! is a new karate program that provides an opportunity for individuals in the special needs community to participate in martial arts. Karate can help to develop fitness and self-confidence skills as well as grow a sense of community and lasting friendships. Students learn to build superior relationships build on respect and friendship through martial arts’ philosophy and customs.
The Arc of the Midlands in collaboration with the SC Developmental Disabilities Council and East West MA Columbia (sites in Irmo, Lexington, Northeast, and Forest Acres) will begin offering in the summer of 2014 a FREE twelve-week orientation white belt program designed to prepare individuals of all ages with special needs for integration into mainstream programs.
