Service Coordination Levels

Service Coordination is defined as the coordination of services to assure that people have access to a full array of needed services, thereby preventing the need for institutionalization or more costly services or interventions.

Serving children with the greatest need, empowering people and their families to be self-advocates and using resources in the most efficient way possible is Bright Start’s main goal. Service Coordination Levels were developed to ensure services are provided to children with the greatest needs. The level of need will be assessed by the service coordinator based on available information.

Level I

Level I service coordination actively identifies needs and resources, actively coordinates services to meet those needs, and actively monitors those services over time to assure that they continue to be necessary and appropriate. Level I is the most comprehensive service coordination level.

Level II

Level II service coordination is for children whose needs are already being met through services and resources in the community. Families who receive Level II service coordination require very little assistance. Families receiving Level II service coordination are encouraged to contact their Service Coordinator anytime assistance is needed. Many times children start out with Level I services and as their needs are met, are moved to Level II services.
